The Problem
A large customer of Westexe is Gregory Distribution Ltd who had an aged MH fleet in a mixed bread-basket transhipment operation. Due to the design of the different baskets, two types of MH equipment are used to load/unload ready for transhipment. One as a fixed clamp solution mounted on a Stacker PPT and the other a white goods clamp on a counterbalance machine.
Aims & Objectives
Replace the current MH fleet with a new combined handling solution through one type of machine to run both parts of the operation within the warehouse, removing the need for larger counterbalance machine and reducing the quantity of MH equipment on-site (Sounds simple!)
The Robur Solution
After initial contact, a site meeting was agreed to observe the working operation with Robur’s lead engineer who conducted a detailed site survey. Innovative ideas were offered on the day giving confidence that a solution would be found. Detailed outline plans along with graphics and photographs followed. The design involved an electric operated “stand in” Stacker machine with a bespoke attachment and friction padding.
Upon delivery of the first unit to site Robur kept in close contact with frequent visits to site to observe the working unit and tweak the design to match the operational needs. Later modifications were added to meet the demands of an ever-changing operation.
Westexe Forklifts commented:
“Robur’s goal was to deliver a machine that was bespoke to my operation. They listened exactly to my requirements around safety, efficiencies, flexibility, and costs. Robur most definitely has a family feel about them, I witnessed this first hand when they invited me to their factory in Italy. The diligence and aftercare have been second to none.
Robur (UK) have delivered exactly what I imagined the new trucks would be”.
